We took this photograph on the last day that we were all
together in this territory. That day,
only young people had gone out in service (teenagers and others in our 20s) so
we felt free to stop and take pictures and be our happy, goofy selves. We take breaks and eat snacks or take
pictures whenever we want because it’s a nice, long service day and you have to
keep a relaxed pace in order to make your energy last.
On one occasion in a town near this place we were taking a
break and eating at a local store when we saw something on the road below. Several of the girls and I went to help a man
whose car had broken down right in the middle of the road. We were afraid that he would get hit by a car
and the local men wouldn’t help him so several of us went and between all of us
we pushed his car and got it out of the road.
It must have looked funny with all those colorful skirts (and yes, we
did panic and start screaming and running and kept pushing until we almost
crashed the gu;y into a fence because we thought a semi was coming toward
us). Then we witnessed to him and gave
him some magazines and I doubt whether he’ll ever forget the occasion.
