The last isolated territory I went to while I was in Pinal was very special. The community we went to is called Carricillo de Media Luna. Nobody in the congregation had ever preached there. It is said that no one had preached there in over ten years. We didn't even know how to get there or how many people lived there. It was practically the only territory that the Pinal congregation had not reached and therefore I was very happy to have the privilege of going that day and that way getting to know all of Pinal's territories before leaving. Although I almost didn't make it.
That morning when I awoke, around 5:30am, I had a terrible headache and a sore throat. I told the campaign pioneers that were staying with me in my apartment that I did not plan on going because I felt sick and it was said that the territory was an unknown and difficult one. But after giving the matter a lot of thought, several prayers, a ten minute nap and very strong ginger tea (a natural antibiotic) I got well enough to put on my dress, my hiking boots, and pack up my lunch and my backpack and go out.
El último territorio aislado al que fui mientras estuve en Pinal fue uno muy especial. La comunidad a la que llegamos se llama Carricillo de Media Luna. Nadie de la congregación había predicado ahí jamás. Se dice que nadie ha predicado ahí en más de diez años. Ni siquiera sabías como llegar o cuántas personas vivían ahí. Era prácticamente el único territorio de la congregación de Pinal que no se había predicado por eso estuve muy feliz de tener el privilegio de poder ir ese día y así conocer todos los territorios de Pinal antes de irme. Aunque por poco no lo logro.
Esa mañana cuando desperté, por ahí de las 5:30am amanecí con un terrible dolor de cabeza y de garganta. Le dije a la precursoras de campaña que se estaban quedando conmigo en mi apartamento que no pensaba ir porque me sentía enferma y se decía que era un territorio desconocido y probablemente muy pesado. Pero después de darle muchas vueltas al asunto, varias oraciones y una siesta de 10 minutos y un té con mucho jengibre (es un antibiótico natural) me recuperé lo suficiente como para ponerme mi vestido, mis botas, empacar mi almuerzo y mi mochila y salir.
That's not me. That's one of the beautiful pioneers from Sinaloa state that were supporting us in the preaching campaign in Pinal and that was staying in my apartment. She slept on an inflatable bed on the kitchen floor but she never complained and she was always very sweet and hard-working.
Esa no soy yo. Esa es una de las hermosas precursoras de Sinaloa que nos estaban apoyando en la campaña de predicación en Pinal y que se estaba quedando en mi apartamento. Ella dormía en una cama inflable en la cocina pero nunca se quejaba y siempre fue muy dulce y trabajadora.
This brother was also one of the pioneers from the campaign. He's a baker. Many young ones make great sacrifices to be able to dedicate a few months every year to support other congregations with need.
Este hermano también fue uno de los precursores de campaña. Él es pastelero. Muchos jóvenes hacen muchos sacrificios para poder dedicar unos meses al año a apoyar otras congregaciones de necesidad.
In total, that whole day, between all of us we were able to speak at just one house in that community. Most of the houses have been abandoned and the remaining ruins show that this community was once much larger. However, we did leave literature and notes at the houses that seemed to be inhabited. We enjoyed the adventure of discovering this place, seeing new flowers and insects and being able to say that we have thoroughly covered our territory.
En total en todo ese día entre todos solo pudimos hablar en una casa en esa comunidad. La mayoría de las casas han sido abandonadas y las ruinas que quedan demuestran que esta comunidad en un tiempo fue mucho mas grande. Sin embargo, dejamos publicaciones y notas en las casas que parecían ser habitadas. Disfrutamos la aventura de descubrir este lugar, ver flores y insectos jamás antes vistos y poder decir que hemos abarcado el territorio cabalmente.
Do you see that white line in the distance? That's just part of the path we took to get to Carricillo. It continues behind that mountain. We were on our way back so we had to walk the whole thing again. It only took us an hour and a half to get back to the truck.
¿Ven esa línea blanca en la distancia? Ese es parte del camino que tomamos para llegar a Carricillo. Continúa atrás de ese cerro. Ahora íbamos de regreso para caminarlo todo otra vez. Solo nos tomó una hora y media para llegar de vuelta a la camioneta.

With a good friend of mine. She arrived for the 2014 Campaign in Rio Escanela and stayed. She is one of the bravest, most patient, most humble, most hard-working and self-sacrificing women I know.
